Introduction / History

The Millang tribe—also known as Malaa or Holon, is a sub-group of the Adi people living in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They have traditionally been farmers, but they supplement their diet by raising chickens, hunting, and fishing. They earn their cash by making and selling handicrafts and by selling wild herbs and honey they find in the forest.

Millang families are typically patrilineal and nuclear, with strong kinship ties. There is a community-based support system. Extended families and village elders play a role in determining who should marry whom.

Their festivals involve rituals, dances, feasting, and storytelling. They are usually agriculture-related. Games and music are part of these celebrations.

What Are Their Beliefs?

About a third of the Millangs are Christian, but we know very little more about their beliefs.

What Are Their Needs?

As more Millangs move to the cities, they now have access to better medical care, education, and better jobs. The downside is that they are losing their culture, which means losing a part of themselves.

Prayer Items

Pray for a complete harvest among the Millang for Christ.
Pray for hundreds to be raised up with a defiant faith in Christ, one that will not be shaken, no matter what comes their way.
Pray for God to bring about his purpose for the Millang people.
Pray for Christians to have love, joy, peace, and patience as they tell others about the King of kings.
Pray for a mighty Holy Spirit revival to permeate their families and churches, drawing them into greater love for God and their neighbors.
