Introduction / History

Kwangali is the language of the Kwangali Luyana community. They are one of the Lozi groups. They live in Angola, Botswana, and Namibia, where they have their largest population.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most likely, they are subsistence farmers like their neighboring people. Most also keep chickens for eggs and poultry.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Traditional Kwangali Luyana beliefs emphasize the worship of ancestral spirits and the gods of healing. Those who become Christians often add Jesus to these beliefs. Most are Christian, but they need their faith in Christ expanded, leading to an exclusive dedication to the King of kings.

What Are Their Needs?

Kwangali people face deep struggles: poverty, the influence of witchcraft, and rejection from nearby churches that see the new churches as rivals. Many are stuck in lies and shame tied to their poverty and cultural traditions.
