Chirripos are also known as Cabecar. They only live in Costa Rica. They speak Cabecar, but most are also fluent in Spanish, Costa Rica's trade language.
Most Chirripos are subsistence farmers who grow corn, beans, chilis, squash, and bananas. What they don't eat they sell in the marketplace.
They believe in a supreme creator god named Sibo (See-boo), who reveals himself to all groups of people and gives them laws to follow. They believe Sibo walked among their first ancestors and taught them their specific laws to follow. However, Sibo is not a personal god that anyone can know. There are also other gods and celestial beings, as well as ancestors. They are all to be feared. Sibo is the creator god of the Cabecar. Some Cabecar who have learned about Christianity insist that Sibo is the same as the Lord Jesus Christ.
However, there are enough strong Christians among them that they can be a sending force to the nations.
Chirripos need to become part of God's team of ambassadors for Christ to a dying world.
Pray for the willingness of Chirripo church bodies to win, equip, and send workers to those who lack Christ's salvation and blessing.
Pray for the Lord to provide them with adequate schooling and medical care in their communities.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in Chirripo families and churches, blessing them in every way.
