Sakacheps are among the Kuki tribes living in northeastern India, specifically Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. They are a scheduled tribe, which gives them low status in India.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Sakacheps are subsistence farmers. Their homes are made of bamboo and elevated on stilts.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Sakachep tribe is almost entirely Christian, but their faith is compromised by adherence to traditional gods and spirits.

What Are Their Needs?

A lack of available education has kept Sakacheps in poverty. Schools teach in a language that is the second or third language.
