Berber languages are far less used in Morocco than Arabic and French, which are used as trade languages throughout the country. Berber languages like Tachelhit are spoken and written in local areas. There are a few Berber programs on television, mainly as a token gesture. Berber is usually a spoken language, though there are Tachelhit language signs in the Drawa Berber homeland. A Berber alphabet, probably derived from the ancient Punic script, has existed for around 2,500 years. Berbers used to be Christians, and St. Augustine was half Berber.
Morocco is not a hospitable country in which Christians and Jews can live and work. Most Christians are not indigenous to this officially Sunni Muslim monarchy. They are tolerated.
Pray for the Drawa Berbers to learn that a way of forgiveness for their sins has been provided.
Pray that God will overthrow the spiritual forces of darkness opposing the spread of his gospel.
Although there may be no followers of Christ among the Drawa Berbers, we expect many to soon be born into the faith.
Pray they will be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Pray that Berbers become aware of their ancient Christian heritage and long to return to it. Pray for visions and dreams of Jesus.
Pray that any Drawa Berber expatriates in Europe come to faith in Jesus and win family members to Christ.
