Introduction / History

The Batsbians (or Batsbi as they call themselves) are a small ethnic group often called "the Tsova Tush" living in the Akhmetsk region in Georgia. The Batsis are the descendants of the Ingush and the Chechens who migrated to East Georgia at the beginning of the nineteenth century. They speak the Bats and Georgian languages. Georgian is also the literary language.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Batsbian everyday life has many Georgian cultural elements. They are gradually assimilating with Georgians.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Their religion is Orthodox Christian.

What Are Their Needs?

Batsis need to put all their trust in Jesus Christ. They need to allow the Holy Spirit to direct their lives.

Pray for the attitudes of peace, forgiveness, and unity among the Batsi people.
Continue to pray for peace in this land, deliverance from war, and deliverance from fear and superstition.
Pray for many missionaries to be called both from inside and outside the region.
Pray that soon Batsi disciples will make more disciples.
