Gujjar (Muslim traditions) in Pakistan
GOO-jur
You may not have heard of the Gujjar, but you are probably familiar with their tribal predecessors, the Huns, the most recognizable of them being Attila the Hun. Like their infamous ancestors, the Gujjar continue to practice a nomadic lifestyle, relocating in summer and winter to find grazing for their animals. In their constant striving to survive, the Gujjar haven't had a fair opportunity to hear, understand, and accept God's invitation to a relationship.
Ministry Obstacles Gujjar nomadism poses a true challenge to those seeking to share the gospel with them. In addition to their impermanent camps and seasonal roaming, most Gujjar are hard to reach because of their commitment to Sunni Islam.
Scripture Focus "Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey." Psalm 76:4
Scripture Prayer Pray that this people group will realize the eternal majesty and glory of the Lord, and give Him praise.
Prayer Focus Pray for the Holy Spirit to begin speaking to the Gujjar, softening their hearts and preparing them to receive his word.
Ask the Lord to send workers who are willing to live with them, share their burdens, and extend God's love in practical ways.
Pray for workers who will help with education and medical care.
Pray that soon, Gujjar disciples will make more disciples, spreading Christ's glory throughout India.
