Introduction / History

The Manyawas are probably related to the Takwane people to their west.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Manyawa are mainly an agricultural people. The farming cycle begins with the rains in November. The rainy season lasts through February. The land is very fertile. One man bragged to us that they can grow anything they want there.

There is some logging that goes on in their area. There are also some hunting grounds available.

What Are Their Beliefs?

There are many churches in the Manyawa area. They have 2 different hymnals in use - the 7th Day Adventist and the Presbyterian. There are a few trained Manyawa pastors, although not nearly enough. One expatriate missionary itinerate here a few times a year. The Catholics have a significant mission, which includes a school, mill, and other buildings. The Manyawa claim Mt. Maravoni as their mountain of origin.

What Are Their Needs?

The Manyawas need better medical care. Most live in rural areas that lack adequate emergency care.

Prayer Points

Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring about a Christ-centered revival in Manyawa churches and families.
Pray for them to experience a record high yield as proof of God's power and goodness.
Pray that there will soon come a day when Manyawa workers will take the name of Christ to gospel-starved parts of Africa.
Pray for the Lord to establish good medical facilities in their region.
