Introduction

The Dar Hamid are a confederation of about 19 tribes and some smaller sub-groups that share a common culture and are led by a single nazir (chief). One of these 19 tribes is the Yazeed. While the Yazeed men move across the desert with their camel herds, the women and children stay home. Children are sent to herd animals almost as soon as they can walk. Because life in the desert is very dangerous, all Yazeed men wear sheathed daggers on their left arms. They must sleep lightly at night to protect themselves and their tribes from bandits.

Ministry Obstacles

There is a desperate need for compassionate missionaries who will embrace their culture and endure the harsh nomadic lifestyle. Missionaries will also have to battle ethnic pride and an unwillingness to question the Islamic religious system.

Outreach Ideas

Pray for the Followers of Christ

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray for African believers to have hearts ready to understand the Yazeed culture and be willing to take the name of Jesus to Muslims throughout their region.
Ask God to open the Yazeed’s hearts to the abundant blessings of Jesus Christ.
Pray for their families to prosper financially and spiritually as they experience a relationship with Christ.
Ask God for a movement to Christ among the Yazeed that will spread joy, peace and salvation to other peoples in Sudan.
Ask God to send gospel workers to use culturally appropriate music and skits to help the Yazeed understand the ways of Jesus Christ.
