Introduction / History

The Lembaas are also called Remba and Mwenye. They have mixed Bantu and Yemeni ancestry. Most live in South Africa, though there is also a sizable population in Zimbabwe.

During South Africa's apartheid years, they were rejected.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Lembaas do not marry outside their community, partly because they still face rejection, both by Black and White South Africans. Their neighbors find the Lembaa's religious beliefs to be strange.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Udmurt society has a high level of alcoholism, depression, and suicide. Individuals and families need healing and the message of Christ.

What Are Their Needs?

For the strongholds of paganism, alcohol abuse, and depression to be broken in individual lives, families, and in society as a whole.

For Udmurt believers to be strengthened and bring the hope of Christ to their families and friends.

Prayer Points

Pray for Lembaa family leaders to embrace the only savior and encourage their children to do the same.
Pray that soon Lembaa disciples will make more disciples.
Pray for Lembaa workers to go to the unreached peoples in Africa.
