Introduction / History

Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia until it became an independent country in 1993. The Slovak language has some similarities to Czech but is different.

The Slovak diaspora is spread all over Europe but some are in Argentina.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Slovaks have contributed to Argentina through athletics, business, the arts and even philosophy.

To maintain their culture in Argentina, Slovaks engage in their own folk music. They love going to movies and making pottery. Favorite foods among the Slovaks include cabbage soup and dumplings with cheese. Their favorite sports include soccer, ice hockey and tennis.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Those in Mozambique are largely Roman Catholic, but they also hold onto traditional beliefs. Interestingly, they prefer an Africanized Bible translation which they have embraced as their own. There is a strong Evangelical presence among them.

What Are Their Needs?

The Senas in Zimbabwe need more medical clinics.

Prayer Points

Pray that the religious traditionalists and even atheists will come to a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray for Slovaks in Argentina to look to God for all their spiritual and material needs.
Pray for the Slovakian Church to take up its role of being Christ's ambassador to the lost.
