Introduction / History

The Laha is a small tribe in northern Vietnam, near the Chinese border. They only live in Vietnam.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Laha houses are built on stilts with two entrances and ladders at both ends. Many villages cultivate rice in submerged fields and build embankments to protect the soil from erosion. The Laha grow cotton, but do not weave.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Regarding the beliefs of the Dawro people, traditional beliefs had been widely practiced until the fall of Derg Regime. Though the exact percentage is not available, the Dawro are now mainly the followers of Orthodox Tewahido, Protestant and Catholic religions.

What Are Their Needs?

This does not mean that all the followers of these religions have deep knowledge of the Bible and related church practices. Hence, it seems that the contents of the Bible and the related religious practices need to be taught in breadth and depth.

Prayer Points

Pray for a movement to Jesus Christ among the Laha people, that they will fellowship together, and be instructed by the Spirit of the Lord.
Pray they will be given a heart to share their belief in Christ with family and friends.
Pray the Laha people will be able to adequately provide for their families, with sufficient food, housing and medical care.
