This people went through difficult migrations that caused them to lose much of their language and customs. Living outside their traditional territory, the Kaxuyana greatly changed their way of life due to the many challenges of adapting to a new and very different land. The mixture of races has become a characteristic of this group.
Today, the Kaxuyana clear and burn the forest in September to prepare their fields, and plant cassava in October or November — men dig the holes, and women do the planting. The fields are cleaned collectively every three months, and the harvest takes place between July and September. They sell flour, bananas, and Brazil nuts.
During the summer, they live mainly from fishing, and in the winter, they organize hunting trips.
They already have a monotheistic concept, but they combine it with ideas from shamanism.
They need to recover their cultural identity, but it's important for this identity to be grounded in what the Creator says about them.
Pray that they will recognize God as their only and sufficient Savior.
Pray for more missionaries willing to disciple them.
Cry out for the confusion of myths and customs to fall silent before the gospel being proclaimed.
